The legendary Sword in the Stone and its guardian, Myrddin (Merlin), are central to this work. Our take on Myrddin’s supposed intention is to have Arthur claim the Sword from the Stone once he comes of age. After securing Excalibur from the lady in the lake, Myrddin sets off for King Uther’s great hall in Camelot to foretell the prophecy and then travels to the deserted chapel to plant the legendary Sword in the Stone.
